These Crispy Homemade Chicken Nuggets are golden and crunchy on the outside while staying juicy and tender inside. Made with simple ingredients like chicken mince, breadcrumbs, garlic, and paprika, they’re perfect for kids, lunch boxes, family dinners, or a quick snack.
Unlike store-bought nuggets, these homemade chicken nuggets let you control the seasoning and ingredients. Serve them hot with ketchup, garlic sauce, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Ingredients
For the Chicken Mixture
- 500g chicken mince
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
1. Prepare the Chicken Mixture
Add the chicken mince to a large bowl. Add the egg, flour, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, and salt.
Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
2. Shape the Nuggets
Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a nugget shape. You can make them round, rectangular, or any shape you prefer.
Try to make them similar in size so they cook evenly.
3. Coat With Breadcrumbs
Place breadcrumbs in a shallow bowl.
Roll each nugget in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently so the crumbs stick to all sides.
4. Refrigerate
Place the breaded nuggets on a tray and refrigerate for about 20 minutes.
This helps them firm up and hold their shape while cooking.
5. Fry Until Golden
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Carefully add the nuggets and cook until golden brown and crispy on the outside and completely cooked through inside.
Transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
6. Serve
Serve immediately with ketchup, garlic sauce, ranch dressing, barbecue sauce, or your favorite dip.
Air Fryer Option
Preheat your air fryer to 200°C / 400°F.
Lightly spray the nuggets with oil and air fry for approximately 15–18 minutes, turning halfway through.
Tips
- Don’t skip the refrigeration step.
- Keep the nuggets similar in size.
- Don’t overcrowd the frying pan.
- Make sure the chicken is fully cooked before serving.
- For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs.
Storage
Store cooked nuggets in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
They can also be frozen for up to 1 month. Reheat them in an oven or air fryer for the best texture.
